Everyone wants soft carpet, but can you have both softness and durability? With MyFlooring, the answer is yes. A lot of carpet companies will boast of high-density carpet but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll get the wonderful soft carpet that you want. That only comes with a carpet with a low denier. It gets a little confusing, so first, let's talk about density versus denier.
Denier is a unit of weight for the size of a single filament or a piece of yarn. The lower the denier, the softer the carpet, but it will be less durable. The range for normal carpet is 20 to 24 denier. A carpet with a denier of 10 to 12 is considered super soft. The density is the number of filaments per square inch. The higher the density, the greater the durability of the carpet, but this has nothing to do with softness. A carpet with a density above 3,000 for residential carpet is considered super durable. When a carpet has high density combined with low denier, it means you get the super fine soft filaments and there are a lot of them. This achieves both softness and durability. MyFlooring's carpet is specially engineered to create the perfect ratio between density and denier, which is why our carpet is incredibly soft and durable.
